Planning Your Vacation Through The Internet

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

After a friend’s constant raving on online travel, a lady decided to go online and plan her own tour. Now, she has collected a wide set of travel coups in the Internet! For a first timer, her finds are definitely not bad 33 dollars for a Chicago to New York train fare, an affordable 23 dollars for an Austin, Texas hotel suite and the cherry on top would be a round trip air ticket for Denver for just a hundred dollars.

Finding great deals is a breeze if you suddenly aim to pack your bags and leave for the weekend. With just a button click away complemented by exceptionally speedy connection to the Web, many people can now avail of great bargains for travelers especially in online fare wars which enable them to afford things that used to be so pricey and these are the factors that contribute to the immense number of people going online to look for great travel deals. We found that last year, over 35 million Americans bought their travel needs online, states an independent travel research team. The remaining 19 million, according to the company, researched online about places and destinations.

This year, the Web is expected to make up to $53 billion from just the leisure travel booking side, and this makes up around 22 percent of the income of the travel industry, reveals another research firm from their projections and studies. There is so much activity in online travel. Its got more life than what we expected it to be. Today, there are tons of spectacular deals. Thanks to a newly intensified airline competition, more dramatic growth can be seen ahead, avers a Chicago based online travel agency’s chief executive.

Bigger rivals are now slashing transcontinental fares in response to the way low cost carriers add routes and planes. If you’re one of those East Coast to the West Coast fliers and consumers that research on the rates of Florida plane tickets, then you should also be knowledgeable about the bloodbath that exists in the major airline’s lower cost of labor, the high costs of fuel and lastly, the new capacity in the marketplace. This proves to be the toughest year in terms of finances since 2001 due to the hard competition, he shares.

In the world of online travel, as long as it is a safe environment for traveling, such prices are extremely stimulative to the marketplace for those who aim for bigger volume rather than revenue from higher costs. For a lot of these travel businesses, profitability is the bottom line. Even with the leader in the travel business screams of a very high bottom line, both of the most formidable online travel agents, which have the support of America’s five largest airline companies are still determined to achieve net income despite generating very strong sales.

Earning is a hard task these days as increasingly web savvy people will transact deals with sites that can offer them great travel deals. Online travelers, about 35 percent of them, are brand loyal. One great example is the tool used by an Internet travel planner never leaving any major travel site unvisited. The Internet is where a couple who loves to trouble goes to get the best car, hotel, plane and train deals.

It is simply a sad reality that such hurts the business of the travel agents when they can readily offer good services and help their clients avoid unnecessary hassles and booking ruts especially the ones that neither have time nor ability to hunt for these deals online. But this is the way I see it if you can do it right in your own home with your own desktop, why do you still need a travel agent then? Indeed, the hotel market has evolved into the hottest online travel sectors, as just in 2003 this sector has been responsible for the $8.7 billion leisure booking revenues.

By spending heavily on promotion and investment, the two biggest online travel providers have turned on the market share war. Both show success in getting in more accounts from the private sector. Today’s business analysts state that in order for the online agencies to attain success in the endeavors, they must venture into developing a package that already includes car rental, airfare and hotel accommodation within just one attractive deal. It is only today that we see that at least half of its revenues will be generated by sources beyond the sales from airplane tickets. He proclaims the travel package trend to be the brightest marketplace. Looking forward, it will keep gaining ground way beyond they way that most people now do.

Helpful Suggestions For Travelers

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Despite recent economic troubles, experts believe that this year will be a record breaker of travel both throughout the country and abroad. If you’ve never taken a trip outside the country or are taking a big trip at home with the family this here, we’ve got some great tips that will help you to organize a fun adventure.

Ideally, you should carry only two suitcases – one large suitcase, and one smaller suitcase. Your smaller suitcase should contain items which you usually use at day’s end, like your toothpaste and toothbrush, cosmetics, slippers, nightgown, and your robe. You probably won’t want to dig through a huge suitcase at the end of a busy day to locate these important items. The large bag should be used only for clothing.

Economy of space is the real secret to packing efficiently. To that end, pack only travel-size personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste, soap and facial cleanser. The toothpaste that you choose should serve a dual purpose. It should give you fresh both breath and clean teeth.

And don’t forget to take a travel alarm clock. Your concierge can be unreliable when it comes to waking you up on schedule, and you don’t want to miss your plans. Don’t carry a lot of money around with you. Obviously, you should carry a small amount, but don’t bring more than you’ll need in a given day. Another option to protect that spending money would be traveler’s checks. As you find yourself needing cash, they are easy to exchange. It’s also a good idea to have a credit card with you. Only take one card on your trip which will be accepted internationally.

Some simple safety procedures will make you a less obvious target. Make sure you don’t allow your purse to dangle from a strap over one shoulder. It is safer to carry your handbag by crossing the strap over your body, or tucking it under your arm. Also, carry your wallet in a front pocket if possible.

Using elastic bands to encase your wallet is a clever trick. The bands make it harder to slip out of your pocket by creating a resistance and pull that you will notice. You should never travel with expensive jewelry or anything that cannot be replaced if stolen. It’s a good idea to keep the basics, including a change of clothes, in your carry-on.

You may want to have a mini clothesline made for travel and clothespins for the line, as well as a few inflatable hangars. All of the above can be purchased at variety counters. Consider bringing along hand wash laundry detergent as well as travel sizes of regular detergent in case the hotel has a laundry room.

Bring a handful of mailing labels with your address on them. You’ll be glad you have these in the event you want to mail gifts or souvenirs back home. All you’ll have to do it hand the sales clerk a label to put on your package. These are also excellent items to use when you want to send a quick postcard.

You can keep all of your receipts in a large envelope, in your handbag. This will save time and make it easier when you’re going through customs. Your laundry, lingerie, shoes, and other items which need to be separated can easily be divided with a variety of plastic bags.

If you are preferential to a particular brand of sunscreen, you may want to bring this with you in case you cannot find it there. When you bring liquids like shampoo, lotion, and deodorant with you make sure to keep them in plastic bottles.

One last piece of advice would to make sure your clothes are mostly wrinkle resistant and will drip dry. You’re on vacation – you don’t want to spend your time ironing and washing. You also should attempt doing every single thing at your location. While travel should excite you, don’t feel obligated to remain active every second. It’s also important to spend some time relaxing. It is your vacation, after all!

Blue Whales – Larger Than 6 Elephants

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Blue Whales are magnificent creatures. One of the very best places to view them is on a boat from Southern California. Whale watching trips go out regularly from San Diego, Los Angeles, Oxnard, Ventura and Santa Barbara.

The Blue Whale is the largest animal to ever live on earth ” far larger than the largest dinosaurs, and weighing up to 190 tons, heavier than a DC-10 airliner. For sake of comparison, the largest elephants barely reach 6 tons. Blue Whales have been measured scientifically at 98 feet, and thought to reach more than 110 feet, while the longest dinosaur skeleton measures under 90 feet from the tip of its nose to the tip of its tail.

A common myth is that the heartbeat of these magnificent creatures can be heard twenty miles away. Not only is that not true, but their heart cannot be heard from even ten feet away!

Interestingly, one of the smallest seabirds on earth, Cassins Auklet, and the Blue Whale, the largest animal ever to have lived on earth, both subsist primarily on the same prey: krill. Blue Whales are baleen whales. Instead of teeth, they have a series of flexible plates called baleen that they use to strain up to four tons of these tiny shrimp like crustaceans from the ocean each day.

Blue Whales have been known to interbreed occasionally with the second largest animal on earth, the Fin Whale. Four of these hybrids have been scientifically documented by DNA analysis.

Blue Whales are usually solitary animals. Sometimes they associate with another individual. Scientists do not know how long Blue Whale couples stay together. Very occasionally, Blue Whales can be found in groups of 40 – 50 individuals in areas where there are high concentrations of food – however this is exceptional. Normally, Blue Whales do not form large close-knit groups like some other whale species.

Blue Whales are very strong swimmers and usually travel at 12 miles per hour. When they are excited they have been clocked at 30 miles per hour!

Blue Whales are found all over the world. The waters off Southern California and Baja Mexico are home to perhaps 25% of the worlds population. Theyre most often seen in this area in spring and summer being a favored feeding ground.

Blue Whales are found all over the world in both cold and warm waters. Its not known for certain where they breed and give birth, but is suspected to be in warmer waters. Feeding has been documented in temperate, tropical and polar waters.

Blue Whales once numbered in the hundreds of thousands until man developed the technology (like exploding harpoons) to exploit these magnificent creatures in the early twentieth century. For nearly 40 years they were hunted almost to extinction by whalers who destroyed 99 percent of all Blue Whales on earth. They became protected in 1966 when on the brink of extinction. Its estimated that there are only 5,000 to 10,000 Blue Whales left worldwide today.

The article will be giving a few points regarding some possible vacation destinations and options that students can decide among when doing some last minute planning.

The best travel plans especially for students on spring break are those which are not only affordable but can immediately be arranged. Consider a different activity and take a chance at going camping. There are a number of possible campsites to consider in most areas so this will not be a problem.
